Paul Tutsch
President 2011-2012 Whistler Public Library
On the BCLTA board since 2010
|
Paul Tutsch, now retired, spent many years helping many Canadian companies, big and small, shape and improve how they were perceived by their clients. This required developing an understanding of client needs and perceptions and then developing strategies to make adjustments.
Paul was a member of the Board of Trustees of the West Vancouver Memorial Library for 8 years, 2004-2011, during which time he chaired various committees such as Strategic Planning and Advocacy. He was Chair of the Board for 2 years and Chair of the Foundation for 15 months. During his time on the Board, Paul was instrumental in developing strong relationships with municipal politicians, administrators and community leaders. These relationships helped the Library achieve specific, identified goals.
Paul received the Super Trustee Award of the BCLTA in April 2008. He is now a Trustee of the Whistler Public Library and President of the BCLTA.

William Caley
Director
Grand Forks Public Library
On the BCLTA board since 2011
|
William is a member of the board of the Grand Forks Library Association, currently serving as vice-chair.
One of William's earliest memories is visiting the old Carnegie library in Sarnia, ON as a child. The building was quietly sinking and the corners were braced by old telephone poles but what a wonderful place it was. Having to walk past the stuffed alligator in its glass display case while descending to the children’s' area in the basement was a highlight of his weekly trips with his father.
In 2009 William and his partner moved to beautiful BC from Toronto. The plan was for him to retire from social services after a forty year career. His "retirement" lasted two months when he found himself employed full time, enabling employment for individuals with disabilities. He was quickly recruited to serve on the Grand Forks Art Gallery (now "gallery2).

Donna Macdonald
Director
Nelson Public Library
On the BCLTA board since 2012
|
Donna was first elected to Nelson City Council in 1988, and is currently serving her seventh term (which means she spends more time reading reports and budgets than novels and short stories!).
During the previous municipal term, she served on the Nelson Public Library board and was involved in supporting both the physical expansion project (adding space to the library) and the geographical expansion (adding two rural areas as tax contributors to the library).
Donna has followed with interest discussions about the future of libraries, and is keenly supportive of their future both as places of learning, enjoyment and exploration, and also as important social and community hubs.
With changes at the provincial level, Donna believes the BCLTA has an important role to play going forward, and she would like to apply her 15-plus years of experience to that advocacy work. Enhancing the support provided to library trustees across the province is also a priority, as is engaging trustees in ongoing advocacy and education about libraries.
