BCLTA's ADVOCACY WORK
- Regular meetings with the Director of the Public Library Services Branch to discuss library issues from a trustee perspective, and to advocate for positive change in provincial support for libraries;
- Annual meeting with the Minister responsible for libraries;
- Meetings and contact with other Ministers as required;
- Regular correspondence with provincial and federal officials on legislation, issues and initiatives that directly or indirectly affect libraries;
- Participation in the annual Union of BC Municipalities Convention – BCLTA organizes the BC Library Reception, which is co-hosted with the BC Library Association (BCLA) and the Association of BC Public Library Directors (ABCPLD), and ensures libraries are “top of mind” with local elected officials;
- Regular contact and meetings with other library organizations, such as BCLA, ABCPLD, the BC Teacher Librarians Association, the Canadian Library Trustees’ Association, etc.
