Ernest Neumann

Ernest, now serving his second term as President, Canadian Library Trustees Association (2001-2002), is the Chair, Burnaby Public Library Board (served on the Board for six years). Ernest is also serving as Human Resources Director for the BCLTA. His past involvements have included service as President, British Columbia Library Trustees Association for two years as well as BCLTA Treasurer for one year. While he was BCLTA President, Ernest acted as the B.C. representative to CLTA Executive. He has also served as Treasurer for the InterLINK Board.

Ernest is a columnist for local newspapers, the Burnaby NewsLeader and the New Westminster NewsLeader while continuing as a self-employed businessman in Burnaby, B.C. Before this, he was a secondary school teacher for 21 years (Fine Arts and History). Ernest is a well-known presenter of workshops, seminars and continuing education courses for trustees and librarians (recent workshops include Public Relations and Board/Staff Relationships).

He has served as volunteer on many executives and boards for different societies and associations over the past 25 years, including the Burnaby Arts Council, the Burnaby Art Gallery Association, the B.C. Art Teachers' Association, the GVC Credit Union Finance and Membership Committee and Condominium Associations. As well, Ernest served for nine years on both the Advisory Planning Commission and the Traffic and Transportation Commission for the City of Burnaby.
