President's Welcome and Acknowledgements

On behalf of my colleagues on the Executive of the BC Library Trustee Association, I am delighted to invite you to join your colleagues at the Leadership @ your library conference in beautiful Nelson, BC from May 31 to
June 2, 2002.

During this challenging and exciting time for libraries, Library Boards are put to the test. Resources are scarce, technology is changing the way libraries do business, and our users are wanting more of everything. This year's stand alone conference is an opportunity for you to sharpen your governance skills, gather new information on a variety of timely topics and to share experiences with your fellow Trustees.

We will be hosting a full day Trustee Orientation Program on Friday before the official opening of the conference. Make sure you register for this excellent pre-conference seminar.

The 2002 Conference Planning Committee has put together a terrific conference program. They have invited an excellent and varied slate of presenters including our National Librarian, Roch Carrier, who will join us as keynote speaker on Friday evening. Be sure to attend the Conference Banquet and Awards on Saturday evening.

I also encourage everyone to attend the BCLTA AGM on Sunday morning. We will have a few openings on the Executive, so please join us and run for office.

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our Conference Director, Lynn Adams, and her committee for putting together a fantastic conference. We also extend our appreciation to our supporters and sponsors who have enabled us to have this wonderful event in Nelson.
